It is not necessary to know how to do a statistical analysis to critically appraise a paper. However, it is necessary to have a grasp of the basics, of whether the right test has been used and how to interpret the resulting figures. Short, readable, and useful, this book provides the essential, basic information without becoming bogged down in the mathematical detail that often puts so many readers off statistics. It covers all the ground necessary to critically evaluate the statistical elements of medical research papers in an approachable way. This book is designed for healthcare students and professionals who need a basic definition and knowledge of common statistical terms.

Medical Statistics Book Free Download 2017
I purchased Medical Statistics Made Easy for my Kindle. It is a well implemented book that is easy to navigate on the Kindle; the simple graphics have been ported perfectly.
The book is basically a summary of most of the statistical tests that will be used and referenced in medical journal articles. For each statistical test, it ranks it by how easy it is to understand, how prevalent its use is, and how important it is to know. Then it goes onto explain the highlights and most important information necessary to understand the test and to evaluate whether it is an appropriate statistical test for a given situation. As I read journal articles, it has proven to be a helpful resource, because even though I've taken a couple statistics classes, I inevitably forget some of the particulars; Medical Statistics made easy has not yet failed me in reminding me or helping me to very quickly learn exactly what I needed to know to understand the statistical portion of the articles.
Finally, if you have a Kindle, I would recommend you download it instead of purchasing the physical, because having it searchable makes it super quick to find exactly what you're looking for. Not to mention, it cost a little bit less digitally than physically.

This book is exactly the same as 'Medical and Health Science Statistics Made Easy.' The only difference is that this one has a publication date of 2008 and chapter titles that are not grammatically correct ('statistics which describe data') whereas the other one has a publication date of 2009, and the chapter titles were fixed ('statistics that describe data'). Both are very, very, very quick reference guides to various statistical texts. If you want a pocket-dictionary-type book to consult quickly, this could be it (buy the 2009 one) -- but I think Wikipedia or Google would work just as well.
